KYO
KYO began in 2015–2016 through a denim collection built around stitching mistakes, patchwork and repair.
I was interested in allowing errors to remain visible and using them as part of the design rather than something to correct. Through this process, a small character gradually emerged from the collection.
Influenced by my long-standing interest in Japanese culture and ideas of repair and transformation, KYO became more than a visual element. It remained with me as a character and a possible world of its own.
Years later, in 2025, I returned to KYO and began developing its identity further. In Shanghai, KYO was given a heart — becoming the starting point for a new chapter.
Today, KYO continues to grow beyond the original denim collection, developing its own visual language, clothing and story.
